Lost in Translation

Monday, April 12, 2010. I took my own advice and ordered from Africa Book Centre. S sale, and a lovely parcel has arrived with SPRING WILL COME. And MORE THAN A CASUAL CONTAC. I am a fan of woodcuts, linocuts and the like. There is such a fineness of detail that appeals to my eye. Not that many South Africans work with woodblocks. The most well-known is probably John Muafangejo. Is worth looking at if you are interested in this kind of thing.

The Twelve Trek Days, 2011

Thursday, January 5, 2012. Up until about a hundred years ago, there was one question that burned in every Human, that made us study the stars and dream of traveling to them. Respectful, arched eyebrows from the Vulcan delegation. I came as soon as I could.

Exploring Turkey Davids Heroic 50th Birthday Journey

Wonderful ex-pat Canadian who knows her business and works with local weavers to produce fantastic textiles. Sitting in my living room feeling tired in a good way and a little sad that the adventure is over, for now.

Davids Turnings

Some notes from a person just starting in wood turning. Thursday, May 28, 2009. A note about wood turners. I have been pleasantly surprised at the support wood turners give one another. I had been thinking about learning to turn for some time, and went to a wood working show in Seattle. There was a local club staffing a booth and helping neophytes create something on a small lathe. I made my first turning, a pen, there, and have wanted to get more involved ever since.
